Leo Larsen was one of the many Danish seamen, who were abroad at sea, when the Germans occupied Denmark. He volunteered for the RAF later in the war.
Alfred Henri Blichfeldt Qvistgaard enlisted in the Royal Norwegian Air Force during the Second World War. He was killed crossing the Atlantic when SS Nerissa was torpedoed in the spring of 1941.
Svend Andersen lived in Brazil at the outbreak of war, but travelled to England from Brazil in 1940 to join the RAF.
Georg Frans Lasson Hemicke was at sea at the outbreak of war. One can say that he stayed close to the sea throughout the war as navigator in No. 330 (Norwegian) Squadron.
