Torkild Lunøe

Torkild Lunøe is one of a small number of Danish pilots who volunteers for the Malayan Volunteer Air Force during the Second World War. He is captured by the Japanese and is sent to the notorious Burma-Siam Railway also known as the "Death Railway."
Torkild Lunøe is born on 30 May 1906. He is the son of Lars Johan Lunøe (1861-1917) and Annie Flora Lunøe (née Pettersen) (b. 1873). [1]
In the 1930s Torkild Lunøe works for United Plantations in Malaysia at the outbreak of war and is trained as pilot in the Ipoh Flying Club.
He volunteers for the Malayan Volunteer Air Force during 1941. He is are taken prisoner of war following the Japanese attack, and is sent to the notorious Burma-Siam Railway also known as the "Death Railway." [2]
