Søndergaard, Svend
(1921 - 1943)

Svend Søndergaard is born on 29 December 1921. He is the son of farmer Lars Kristian Andersen Søndergaard and Bodil Kirstine Søndergaard (née Pedersen). [1]

He is the brother of Andrew Christian Søndergaard, DFC, who Flight Officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force. [2]

He arrives in Quebec on 29 November 1929 with how mother and siblings joining the father who had already settled in Ponoka, Alberta. [3]

He enlists in the Royal Canadian Air Force at some point and is trained as Flight Engineer. I have no details on his enlistment at this point in time.

He is killed in action on 21 December 1943. At 1615 Halifax V (LK644 ZL-C) of No. 427 Squadron takes off from RAF Station Leeming on operation to Frankfurt. The aircraft is piloted by F/O J M Grieve. The crew of seven is killed. [4]
