Ketty Hjorth

Ketty Hjorth was a housekeeper in the most fabulous house in Hamstead when the war broke out. She volunteered for the Women's Auxiliary Air Force in 1942 and ended the war as a Leading Aircraftwoman. She was one of thirty-three Danish women to service as a WAAF.

Paul Andersen

Paul Andersen enlisted in the RCAF in late 1942 and served as an air gunner in 44 (Rhodesia) Squadron in 1944. Andersen and his crew was killed in action returning from a minelaying operation over Danish waters in 15/16 July 1944.

Christian Friis Lauesen

Christian Friis Lauesen was born in Denmark, but naturalised in the USA before the Second World War. He lost his life in January 1944, serving as pilot in the US Marines in the Pacific. He was one of three brothers, all pilots, who was killed during the war.

Ingvardt Marinus Smitsdorff

Cpl Ingvardt M. Smitsdorff was born in Denmark but emigrated to the United States in 1929. He served in the USAAF from 1942 to 1946 and served overseas in the United Kingdom. He was one of the Danish nationals enlisting in the USAAF.
