Details
Nine crews were briefed for armed recce N&E of ROME. Only four took off and a most severe storm was encountered which continued to deteriorate - the a/c landing in rain.
The first a/c bombed transports in SUBIACO area, second a/c jettisoned and a 3rd and 4th [Henrichsen] returned early with bombs. The first two crews are to be commended for their safe return after being airborne in storm conditions for 4 hrs and 2 hrs 20 mins. respectivility - 2 x 500 lb & 4 lb 40 lb bombs dropped.
