Henry Charles Emil Miller is born on 8 November 1895 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

During the First World War he enlists for the Australian Imperial Army, 53rd Batallion. In 1917, he is supposedly promised naturalization while in France, but the document apparently cannot be located when he enlists for the Royal Australian Air Force on 24 April 1941 in Melbourne. He is then living in Myrtleford.

He is discharged on 20 July 1941 at which point he is attatched to No. 3 School of Technical Traning holding the rank of Aircraftman Class 1 (www.ww2roll.gov.au; www.naa.gov.au).
