12 a/c led by Wing Cmdr. Flying Lt.Col. Berg took off from base to act as top cover to 130 Lancasters and 5 Mosquitos bombing Noball target in Foret de Lisle Arlan. 2 a/c experienced mechanical troubles and had to return to base after 50 minutes flying. Escort uneventful. Result of bombing not seen due to layer of clouds. Medium inacc. light flak encountered over target area. Heavy flak was thrown up at bombers. All our a/c returned safely to base.
