Details
Ramrod 1496. 12 Spitfire IX LF with 90 gallon tanks acted as escort to 75 Lancasters bombing target on Dortmund-Ems Canal near RECKLINGSHAUSEN. Operaion carried out as planned. Results of the bombing not seen. Moderate to intense heavy accurate flak from area of target and maegre heavy on crossing Rhine on way out. Weather 10/10ths cloud tops 7000 ft. over Ruhr area. Visibility good above cloud, rest of area, no cloud but some haze.
