Ramrod 1336. 10 Spitfire IX LF (90 gallon tanks) took off to provide area cover to 60 Lancasters bombing Westkapelle. One aircraft abortive, landed at Manston at 13.35 hrs. with engine trouble. The operation went according to plan and the area was covered at 11,000 ft. from 13.40 until 14.15 hrs. Some of the bombing seemed good, but most of the bombs appeared to be delayed action. Sporadic accurate heavy flak was fired from Middelburg, and also some sporadic heavy inaccurate flak was fired at the bombers from the target. Over the whole area there was 10/10ths cloud at 20,000 ft., but no low cloud over the target.
