Ramrod 1314. 11 Spitfire IX LF (90 gallon tanks) took off to act as escort to 24 Mitchells bombing enemy concentrations just north of Nijmegen. One aircraft landed at Lympne at 08.40 hrs with hydraulic cowling cap loose. Owing to cloud 10/10ths at 8,000 - 12,000 ft., rendezvous was not made with the Mitchells. Bostons were however located after difficulty due to thick cloud. Bombing unobserved. There were 15 bursts of heavy very accurate flak from Heusden, and 8 bursts of heavy accurate flak Hertogenbosch.
