Ramrod 1234. 12 Spitfire IX LF (one late starter returned, unable to make formation) took off on a repeat of Ramrod 1234. In at Blankenberghs at 10,000 ft., down to 4,000 ft. to Thielt where Yellow 1 & 3 [F/L Petersen] attacked 3 covered railway trucks in a siding, firing long bursts and observing strikes right along - much smoke. Formation went on to Roulers and when 2 miles North of Ypres Blue 1 & 2 attacked a laden barge in a canal. Blue 1 fired a 5 second burst and saw strikes from bow to stern. Out Dunkerque at 8,000 ft. Two bursts Bofors gun from Thielt. Sweep area cloud nil. Visibility 20 miles in haze.
