Details
Patrolled at 15-20,000 feet. 10 ME 109's dived away North after coming down inland at 24,000 feet. 14 FW.190's came along coast at 1030 at 15,000 feet, and dive-bombed two or three miles North of ANZIO. Blue Section chased them to ROME at desck level. Red Section giving top cover. F/S ANDREW destroyed 1 and damaged another. W/O. DONNER destroyed 1 and may have chased 1 into a wireless mast - he could not see very well as his windscreen was iced up. He makes no claim. F/O TEMPLAR ran out of petrol and crash-landed W of MONDRAGON. Two parachutes seen descending - 1 at CASTEL GONDALFO another at F.7530. F/O TEMPLAR damaged 1 FW.190.
