ROUTE: BASE - COLNE PT. - DUNGENESS - TRAPPES - 48.40 n 01.40 e - SELSEY BILL - READING - BASE

BOMB LOAD: A/C. A.E.F.G.J.K.L.N.O.T.W.Y.Z. 6 x 1000lb MC TD 025, 9 x 500lb NS TD 025, A/C C. 7 x 1000lb MC TD 025, 8 x 500lb NS TD 025, CAMERA:- ALL AIRCRAFT, NICKELS:- NIL.

OPPOSITION: ONE HEAVY FLAK GUN REPORTED IN TARGET AREA PERSISTANT AND FAIRLY ACCURATE AT 12000ft. LITTLE LIGHT FLAK FROM PARIS AND COASTED AREAS.

The primary target was identified by red TI, clear bur some haze. Bombs were dropped from 12000ft. on one red TI in T/S seen to cascade at approx. 21.30 hours. On approaching T/A three red TI’s were seen going down, times not logged (one at E. end of the Lake, one just E. of the Town, the other on the E. end of the Yards. The last mentioned was bombed. At 19.49 posn. 53.29 N 00.25 E flaps crept down, aircraft was put 12 minutes behind flight plan time, deviated from route, with intention of jettisoning off the east coast, course was diagnosed, so aircraft was turned at 53.20 N 00.08 E 19.50 hours to regain track. A/C landed safely back at BASE on return from this operation.
