ROUTE: BASE - SELSEY BILL - 49.18 N - 00.50 E - TARGET - 48.57 N - 02.05 E - 49.10 E - - 2.10 E - BEACHY HEAD - (Including abortive sorties by āYā)
OPPOSITION: VERY SLIGHT HEAVY FLAK AND LIGHT FLAK IN THE TARGET AREA. NEGLIBLE FRENCH COAST DEFENCES SIMILAR. ONE SEACHLIGHT SEEN IN THE TREPORT AREA AT ?/00 HOURS, TWO FAIRLY STATIONARY CONICAL SEARCHLIGHTS WERE SEEN AT THE SOMME ESTUARY AREA AT ?/.0/ HOURS, ONE OCCULTING SEARCHLIGHT SEEN AT 50.03 N - 01.02 E THIS FORMED A āVā WITH ANOTHER SEARCHLIGHT AT 03.56 hours.
BOMB LOAD: A/C. A.E.F.K.L.M.N.O.R.S.T.Y. 6/1000lb MC & 9/500lb mc (DS 0.025), C.P.Q.X. 7/1000lb & 8/500lb. G.J. 6 of each.
The primary target was identified by a red TI, subsequently a second TI was seen over a factory, 5/10 - 6/10 cloud tops at 8500ft. Bombs were dropped from 8000ft. on one red TI cascading at 4000ft. at 03.09 hours. Fires were started with greyish smoke which tended to obscure accurate observation. This red TI was seen to fall on factory buildings. Subsequently a second red TI went down in target area and also a visual was obtained over the Seine. Three good explosions were seen in the target area about 03.24 hours. Aircraft on return landed safely at BASE.
