Details

The primary target, MILAN, was attacked and bombed from 15,500-ft. at 0025 hours. Weather conditions: Clear with light haze to 15,000-ft. The target was identified by red and yellow R.F.F [?] flares also green T.I.'s being seen to cascade, bombs being dropped in centre of green T.I.'s. Large fires were seen burning, and a large cloud of smoke seen rising on Northern side of during bombing: this resembled an oil fire. The Germans appeared to have the route taped and were waiting all along the way. There was heavy flak at Capriquet as we came out. Photografic failure due to fires and smoke.
