Ramrod 881. Led by Lt. Col. Berf the Wing took off at 0915 hours, on Ramrod 881, to dive-bomb Bethune railway marshalling yards. The French coast was crossed 5 miles S. of Le Touquet at 11,000 ft. Target was reached at 1000 hours. The marshalling yards were clearly identified from photos and diving from 10,000 ft. the pilots released their bombs at 4,000 ft. Bombing appeared to be very good. All bombs fell in target area and at least 4 direct hits were observed on a large building pinpointed in the operation order. Intense but inaccurate, light flak was experienced over target area and no e/a made any attempt to intercept during the entire operation. After the attack the wing reformed and crossed out over Hardelot returning to base without damage at 1040 hours.
