Ramrod S.42. The Wing, led by Major K. Birksted, D.F.C., flying with 331(N) Squadron, climbed from base and arrived over Sangatte on time. Flying at 26,000 feet the Wing remained in the area for one hour and five minutes. Eight F.W.190's were seen at 31,000 feet going North, and the Wing climbed after them. Then another Wing crossed above the e/a thus warning them and they dived away. The pilots report large flames [?] in Northern and Southern parts of Boulogne. From St. Omer area, the Wing experienced slight but accurate heavy flak. The Wing returned to base without further incident.
