Ramrod 1427. 12 Spitfire IX LF with 90 gallon tanks took off at 10.40 hours to act as target and withdrawal cover to 150 Lancasters bombing Marshalling Yards at Ludvigshaven. They landed at Ursel 11.30 hours to refuel and took off again at 13.50. Blue 2 returned base 14.30 aircraft's rudder damaged in taxying (not categorised). Yellow 1 returned 15.00 hours - oxygen leakage. Blue 1 returned 15.50 hours trouble with jettison tank. Blue 4 accompanied. Remainder patrolled target area at 20,000 ft. Bombing appeared very good; heavy intense flak from target area accurate for bombers. Weather good over target. Cloud 2/10ths - 3/10ths at 8000 ft. visibility above good. 8 a/c landed back at Ursel at 16.35 hours owing to fuel shortage and stayed the night.
