Ramrod 1239. 11 Spitfire IX L.F. plus 25 lbs. boost led by Sqdn.Ldr. H.P. Burke together with 165 Squadron provided close escort to Marauders bombing underground and tank waggons 15 miles N.E. of Leon. This operation was according to plan. Two concentrations of bombs were seen in the target area, smoke being seen but no flames. Only four bursts of flak were experienced, and that was from the target area.
