Details

Despite bad weather conditions at base necessitating cancellations up to 2300 hours, twelve Bostons took off 2301-0305, two of which represented second sorties laid on after the return of the first two a/c.

Six of the a/c recce'd roads in the AVEZZANO-CEPRANO area which was covered by 8/10 cloud and little movement was seen. Three of these a/c acted as pathfinders for Baltimores by dropping flares at SUBIACO and C. ROUETO.

Two a/c recce'd N. of ROME and reported heavy movements S. from ORVIETO.

Two a/c reported 10/10 cloud over area AQUILA-POPOLI but bombed 40+ M/T at G7892 explosions resulting. These a/c dropped flares for subsequent Baltimores.

A total of 24 x 500 lb and 192 x 40 lb bombs were dropped.
