Task ESSEN. Good fires seen in town on arrival with a good concentration of green T.I.'s and fires on the red T.I.'s. Bombed the centre of this concentration at 2129 hrs from 19,800 ft but could not identify own bomb burst in the conflagration, own white T.I. flares released at this point. Defences very intense flak working mainly in coopetaion with very numerous S/L cones. One photo attempted. Bomb load 4 x T.I. green, 1 x T.I. white, 1 x 4,000 HC, 6 x 500 GP (4LD), 1 x 250 GP (LD).
