The delivery of the torpedoes was followed shortly by an explosion and a mass of flame and debris. FK.378 (F/Sgt Egebjerg) bombed buildings at the east side of the bay and claimed direct hits. FK.123 (P/O C. Phillips) attacked one M/V of 2,000 tons with bombs, the results was unobserved, but another Marauder was seen in a mass of flames, gaining height but heading West. FK.121 (F/O DONOVAN) straddles another M/V with bombs and observed another Marauder crash in flames at Eastern point of Bay. All these aircraft landed back at Gambut 3. FK.149 (F/Sgt. Bullock) returned to Gianaclis, but no details of his bombing are available. The remaining two aircraft – FK.377 (Sgt. Barton) and FL.139 (Sgt. Yarwood) – are missing as a result of the raid and are believed to be the two aircraft mentioned above.
