12 a/c airborne on escort of 24 B26's attacking a railbridge at ASTI. FLAK: four bursts of heavy flak experienced from VARAZZE. Direct hits were observed on the bridge. 3 miles south of ASTI 30 plus MET were reported. In SAVONA there were five ships, one of 250ft. and 1 of 50ft. WEATHER: visibility good; cloud 3/10 - 8,000ft. scattered.
