12 a/c airborne on armed recce in the PISA-FLORENCE-POGGIBONSI area. FLAK: 2 bursts of heavy inaccurate from LEGHORN. At 9448 F/O Petersen and F/O Smith, A. obtained 1 x 5-tonner damaged and 1 x 3-tonner destroyed. F/O Wilson destroyed a staff-car at Q3074, and P/O Malloch damaged another car. F/Lt. Ipsen and P/O Malloch attacked a JU52 on the ground at PISTOIA airfield, sending it up in flames. At Q6078 they destroyed 1 lorry and damaged two others. At Q5186 F/O Wilson destroyed a truck and trailer. F/O Burne at Q6070 attacked dispersed MET, damaging 2 trucks with trailers and 1 bus. At Q4534 ten German troops were shot up, and at Q7050 a large bus was damaged. WEATHER: visibility 30 miles; cloud 4/10 at 8,000 ft.
