12 a/c (F/Lt. Hirst) airborne on an armed recce of the PISA-FLORENCE-POGGIBONSI area. 6 vehicles were destroyed, 9 damaged, and 2 motor-cyclist were destroyed. F/O Rainsford (160088) noticed that his oil pressure was dropping owing to a direct hit from light flak. He made for friendly territory and force-landed safely near Rome.
