Details
Fighter sweep LEGHORN-LA SPEZIA area. FLAK: light, moderate, inaccurate from position Q6198; also light, moderate, inaccurate from PISTOIA. F/Lt. HIRST and P/O SUTTON attacked a 5-10-ton truck moving North from L6218. Direct hits were obtained and the truck rolled over a steep bank. These a/c damaged 2 more trucks - 1 15-cwt. at Q6155 and 1 5-tonner at Q5173. F/Lt. IPSEN, F/O HALLAS, F/O COULSON and SGT. PEARSON saw a convoy consisting of 4-5 ton trucks and one staff car standing in the road at Q5762. The Staff-car and 5 of the trucks burst into flames, the other truck receiving many hits. F/O PETERSEN and P/O RAINSFORD attacked a car and a 15-cwt. truck at Q8736 and Q6118 respectively, observing strikes on both. WEATHER: visibility 20 miles, cloud 4/10-6/10 6,000 ft.
