12 aircraft were airborn on escort of B.26 (Marauders) over target S.E. of FLORENCE. No enemy aircraft were sighted; one unidentified aircraft was observed flying West on journey to target E of CECINA. Heavy & intense A.A. fire was seen in the PRITO area. Heavy and moderate A.A. was experienced over target area on return journey heavy and intense A.A. fire was seen South of LEGHORN. Weather: Vis good, some cirrus cloud at 18,000 ft.
