Ramrod 181. The Wing was to act as "Bouncing Wing" on this operation. This Squadron took off together with 331(N) Squadron. Major K. Birksted, D.F.C. flying with the latter, was leading the Wing. A climb was made direct from base and the French coast was crossed in at St. Valery at 1620 hours at 24,000 feet. The Wing, under Appledore control, made a sweep in the Grandvilliers and Poix areas and then crossed out over the Somme Estuary at 1647 hours. No e/a were seen and the Wing landed at base without anything of operational interest to report. Weather:- Haze up to 7,000 feet. Visibility above very good.
