Details

From Cap de la Hague the aircraft coast crawled to Cap D'Antifer from which point Varne Bank Buoy had to be located and photographed. No buoy could be found in position given, but a small buoy was found at the northern end of the bank. By flying along a position line obtained by Gee from Folkestone Light a further buoy was located, 1 mile south of the position indicated. Brown Ridge was the next objective, but on passing Goodwin Sands a warm front area was encountered with low clouds (base 200 ft.). At E.T.A. for Brown Ridge nothing was located, so course was set for Dudgon Shoal. Again low cloud prevented the buoy from being located, so the aircraft set course for base.
