Mads Bak Lyndrup

(1907–1986)

Mads Bak Lyndrup is born on 30 July 1907 in Elsø, Denmark. He is the son of farmer and builder Jens Christian Lyndrup and Kirstine Madsdatter Bak. [1]

In 1927, he emigrates to United States arriving in New York from Copenhagen on 5 August 1927 on-board SS OSCAR II. He is accompanied by a Jens Vestergaard Hansen. Their intention is to go to Chicago. In 1934, he is naturalised as US Citizen in Redwood Falls, Minnesota (No. 3864338). [2]

During the Second World War he is in USAAF service. I have few information on his service. He is trained as mechanic and serves as Sergeant (No. 37268283) in England. [3]

He is in a group photo with ground crew in front of aircraft B-17 "Royal Flush" (42-6087). This ties him to No. 418th Bomber Squadron, 100th Bomb Group, USAAF. I have no further information on his service.

On 28 September 1945 he arrives in New York on-board SS QUEEN MARY in transit for Reception Station No. 16 Camp McCoy, Wis. [4]

He returns to Denmark late in life and dies in Denmark in 1986. [5]
