The pimary target, LEIPZIG, was attacked and bombed from 27,000 ft. at 2112 hours. Weather conditions: 8/10ths. cloud and severe icing conditions. Bombs were dropped in centre of searchlights and fires shich was presumed to be the target area. 1 x 4000 HB and 7 30 lb. incendiaries jettisoned at position 5240N 1150E from 24,000 ft. at 2031 hours. Nickels were dropped. Compass U/S; A.S.I. iced up; Rear Turret, GEE and [?] U/S; Port Outer engine failed. Photo flash presumed jettisoned with bombs. Landed at Bungay at 0105 hours.
