Flt Lt. Alfred Greve Frandsen

Alfred Greve Frandsen is one of a few Danish pilots to be awarded the DFC during the Second World War. Even though little is known about this pilot.

Alfred Greve Frandsen is born on 6 September 1918.

He enlists in the RAF presumably in 1941 (1315968, RAFVR). He is promoted from Leading Aircraftsman to Pilot Officer (117428, RAFVR) on 4 April 1942. On 4 October 1942, he is further promoted to Flying Officer.

He is attached to the 233 Squadron flying Hudsons. On 26 September 1943, he is involved on the attack on the German U-boat U-677. He fires rocket projectiles that hit the tower of the U-boat.

Alfred Greve Frandsen is promoted to Flight Lieutenant on 4 April 1944, and awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross on 22 August 1944 (London Gazette; Mark Haycock).
