Ane Marie Traberg Petersen enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC) in 1943. She was one of twenty-nine Danish born WACs during the Second World War.
Ane Marie Traberg Petersen was born on 27 June 1913 in Svendborg, Denmark, to sculptor Knud Emil Petersen and Mariane Petersen (née Traberg).[1]
Petersen emigrated to the United States in 1913, arriving with her mother in Portland, Maine, from Glasgow, Scotland, onboard the SS Pretorian on 25 December 1913.[2] She was naturalised as citizen of the United States on 17 November 1942.[3] The family settled in Maine. The parens later divorced.
Petersen enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC) in Portland, Maine, on 9 April 1943 (A-100270). Her civil occupation was recorded as stenographer/typist and she seems to have served with the signals corps.[4] There is no further information about her service available.
Petersen died on 22 December 2003 in Freetown, Massachusettts.[5]
